When you are on a budget, trying to find something entertaining and fun to do is always a challenge and when you have kids, conquering this challenge is always a must.
John and I are always looking for great values on our journey because we too have to stick within a budget so when we found out that a visit to The Florida Botanical Gardens would cost us nothing but the gas to get there, well free is my absolute favorite word in the English language, so I just had to check it out.
Sometimes I can be skeptical of the word free though, I wonder if a free attraction will equal a full day of fun and enjoyment, but as soon as we got there my skepticism vanished.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that this place is huge, with 92 acres and 2.5 miles of walkways through a lush paradise of tropical exotic beauty. We spent several hours there and I don’t even think we saw it all.

The Florida Botanical Gardens is open 7 days a week from 7 am to 5 pm and is located at 12520 Ulmerton Road in Largo Florida.
I would like to make mention that there is also another attraction at this location called Heritage Village, that when opened back up again (after the Covid Crisis) is also free. We peeked over the fence to take a look and it looks really neat and interesting and we can’t wait to get in there and tell you guys all about it.
Thank you for joining us on this part of the Florida journey. Lately (during the Covid Crisis) John and I have been concentrating on mostly outdoor locations which are safer health wise and because some families have taken a financial hit during the crisis, on locations that provide family entertainment at a relatively low cost.
