2.2 miles south and over a bridge from the very popular and sometimes very crowded Clearwater Beach is the less commercial and more relaxed atmosphere of Sand Key Beach. Unlike Clearwater Beach where parking can be no less than frustrating, parking is quick, easy and stress free at Sand Key Beach.
The west side of this barrier Island faces the beautiful and inviting Gulf of Mexico, and with it’s wide white sugar sand beach you have plenty of space to call your own. It’s a beach where you can pick a spot and put down your towel or set up a beach chair without having to maneuver around a mass amount of people. A place where you actually have space to kick back, relax and listen to the peaceful sound of the waves, without someone being practically on top of you.
The east side of Sand Key faces the intercoastal water way which provides some pretty cool sights of the boats heading out to the Gulf. The east side is also where you will find a fishing area with some great fishing opportunities.
The Park and beach provide all the amenities needed for one to have a great family day at the beach, restrooms, concessions, picnic tables, pavilions, and a playground for the little ones.
Sand Key Park is a place for your entire family including your 4 legged best friend and your pet will be quite comfortable making new friends as the dog park is sectioned off for small and large dogs.
Beach Chair and umbrella rentals are available and entry to the park is free, however parking is pay at the meter with a daily fee of $5.00, which is a bargain compared to the upwards of $20 per day at neighboring Clearwater Beach. Park hours are 8 am to dusk.
